The 2021 MLK Essay Contest Question
With COVID-19 Health guidelines in mind, describe an injustice that you see in today’s society and what you can do to address the issue and advancement of John Lewis’ call to action.
Essays were judged on creativity, clarity, content, coherence and adherence to theme. Essays must be in your own words. The winners received a cash prize and were recognized as part of the 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration event held on January 25, 2021 via zoom.
The essay contest is open to youth (Middle and High School students) who live in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, El Dorado, and Sutter Counties.
Prizes were awarded in the Middle School and High School Divisions.
