In the first post-COVID MLK Celebration in-person event, more than 200 guests attended the 23rd Annual MLK Celebration held at Sacramento State on March 26, 2022 (rescheduled date due to Omicron variant delay). The MLK Committee was honored to present James and Mertie Shelby with the Robert T. Matsui Community Service Award.  In addition, Daniel Hahn was presented with a special award honoring his service with the Sacramento Police Department and as Chief of Police.  Crystel Patterson, a local author, inspired the audience with her journey to becoming an author of children's books.  It was a fabulous welcome back event for everyone who attended!
