Together, we have grown the Enomoto / MLK Celebration Committee Scholarship Fund at Sacramento State to $65,000 — and with your continued support, we move closer to our $100,000 goal to expand opportunity for even more students.
January 2025 - MLK Committee Boosts Enomoto/MLK Celebration Scholarship Fund with $10,000 Donation, Bringing Total to $45,902
With immense gratitude to the Sierra Health Foundation, the MLK Committee has once again contributed to its student scholarship fund at Sacramento State. This $10,000 donation brings the Enomoto/MLK Celebration Committee Scholarship Fund to a total of $45,902, further supporting students in their academic journeys.
The MLK Committee Establishes Student Scholarship Fund at Sacramento State with an Initial Donation of $35,902.
On Monday, March 18, 2024, the MLK Committee donated $35,902 to a newly established MLK Committee Scholarship Endowment at Sacramento State. This fund honors Dr. Dorothy and Jerry Enomoto, along with the MLK Committee Sacramento, for their lasting legacy and positive community impact.
During a special ceremony, MLK Committee members—President Vince Miles, Treasurer Thomas Sheff, and Event Producer Michael Alcalay—formally presented the check to Sacramento State President Luke Wood and Director of Development Charles Nelsen.
Importantly, this contribution marks the first step toward our goal of raising $50,000 to support deserving Sacramento State students. Moreover, the donation celebrates the spirit of giving and the powerful vision of our founders, the Enomotos and the MLK Committee Sacramento.

In celebration of the 25th MLK Celebration Sacramento Anniversary, the MLK Committee is proud to announce a significant new initiative.
Specifically, we are creating the Dr. Dorothy and Jerry Enomoto and MLK Celebration Scholarship Fund at Sacramento State. This meaningful scholarship honors the legacy of the Enomotos and the lasting impact of the MLK Celebration in Sacramento.
To mark this important milestone, the Committee is donating $25,000 to seed the fund during our 25th-anniversary festivities. Furthermore, the scholarship will be formally introduced during the evening dinner. It will stand as a lasting tribute to the Enomotos and the inspiring spirit of the MLK Celebration.
